High Performance Results (Cont.)

Of course we also let Everest Ultimate Edition have a go on these OCZ Technology Platinum Edition memory modules to find out how well these perform at the speed they are rated for. So once again the system was rebooted with our Intel P4 Prescott at 3.75GHz. I fired up Everest Ultimate Edition software suite from Lavalys and started to compile the outcome of the test runs. So let's dig into the findings of the DDR500 performance.

To set the records straight the memory ran at 250MHz FSB (500MHz DDR) and with default memory timings selected by the SPD of the OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition memory. The timings are reported as 3-4-4-8 which is quite common for PC-4000 ram modules.

Memory Read Results

So what does it say at 250MHz FSB for Everest, well we actually put down one hell of a score, namely 7446MB/s. Who can beat that? I was amazed at how well these performed and Everest Ultimate Edition just confirmed my impressions. Fast as hell and topping of a top score on performance. Only some DDR2-800 can keep it from taking first place in the comparison.

Memory Write Results

Once again I am impressed; the OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition memory puts down a score of 5277MB/s. If we compare those with the latest enhanced performance results we notice a boost of about 1030MB/s on the Memory Write benchmark. Can it get any better? Well I certainly am quite fond of these Platinum Edition DDR500 sticks! These provide quite some bandwidth to push the data towards the different hardware components.

Memory Copy Results

Moving on we have the Copy results which resulted in a score of 4856MB/s which is a boost of about 800MB/s over the performance reported at 200MHz with tight timings. Once again a quite significant boost in performance and the stability was never compromised. Running smooth and fast, just the way we want.

Memory Latency Results

And last but not least the Memory Latency results, which show again a nice decrease to about 90.7ns. I am somehow not really sure how to interpret these as for my understanding those seem high but I might be wrong. Although these OCZ EB PC-4000 memory modules do have very stable operation so we might just have to leave the latency results for what they are.

Having overclocked our Intel P4 Prescott processor to meet the 250MHz required bus speed to fully utilize the potential of the OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition dual channel memory kit I am very pleased to have these sticks in my hands. They perform better then expected for any DDR500 memory and even at DDR400 settings they deliver excellent performance, just awesome! The EB abbreviation does make a difference as the bandwidth is quite enhanced and optimized at every level of operation.
