High Performance Results

Yes we finally arrived at the stage where it all comes down to. The OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition memory has been designed to be used at 250MHz FSB, so we are going to use these ram sticks and start to overclock our Intel P4 3.0GHz Prescott processor and see how well these perform. We once again let the mainboard BIOS take care of selecting the default memory timings. By doing so the latency has reported as 3-4-4-8 at 250MHz FSB and our CPU is running well overclocked at 3.75GHz! We will check how the Platinum Edition memory will do on our benchmarks.

Float Copy Results

Having set the bus speed at 250MHz the Platinum Edition memory is now running at 500MHz DDR, the clock rate they have been designed for. This results in an awesome performance level of around 3142MB/s on the Float Copy results. This is certainly again a nice increase over the enhanced performance we have seen so far with an increase of about 440MB/s. Impressive to say the least.

Float Scale Results

The Float Scale results are showing the same approach and are reaching 3203MB/s on average with a peak of 3539MB/s. Again we get a decent boost of around 470MB/s over the previous results at very tight timings on 200MHz FSB. So a higher bus speed does a lot but still the timings needs to be good to get the job done. And that is where OCZ does deliver top notch performance, with excellent bandwidth throughput as result.

Float Add Results

Next are the Float Add results for the Platinum Edition DDR500 dual channel kit which shows off an average of 3297MB/s. Here we see a similar spectacular increase of 420MB/s, and more important the peak going up to 3804MB/s. Also the minimum and maximum results are a bit less tight and have some room for improvement, but you won't hear us complain.

Float Triad Results

And to end it all we have the Float Triad results which show as well an improvement and clocks an average of 3300MB/s with a comparable increase as we are getting used to of about 420MB/s. Once again the OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition memory has proven to be damn fast and stable, with excellent bandwidth throughput as result.

The OCZ EB PC-4000 Platinum Edition has it all, they did put down an excellent score at a bus speed of 200MHz with the ability of tighter memory latency and on top of that when they are used at the speed they are rated for they outperform all that. With these DDR500 ram sticks you get nothing less than the best performance in both environments, either at 200MHz or at 250MHz FSB this memory just has it all. We can only encourage the development that OCZ has put in this Enhanced Bandwidth technology as it pays off with excellent performance!
