Legit Reviews shows of a preview on the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS 256MB PCIe video card. NVIDIA has been making waves of late with the GeForce 7900 GTX, GT and GeForce 7600 GT launches. Today NVIDIA is addressing the budget minded with the launch of the GeForce 7600 GS. With a suggested retail price of $129-149 the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is going to be one of the most sold video cards that NVIDIA offers due to the price point alone. NVIDIA has moved what was previously high end features down the price chart for the GeForce 7600 GS too. With an over the top SLI connector every single GeForce 7600 GS will support SLI technology. We take a closer look at this card and how it helps shape the landscape of the value segment?
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS 256MB PCI-E Preview
The NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is a single slot card that features a 400MHz core clock speed with a DDR2 memory clock speed of 400MHz (800MHz effective). The GeForce 7600 GS features 5 vertex shader units with a total of 12 pixel shader pipelines. This is the same number of shading units and pipelines found on the GeForce 7600 GT, so the only difference on the card is the clock speeds and the memory type used. We now have the GeForce 7600 positioned at the lower end of the mid-range market and cards are available today from the major online retailers.
From what we have seen on paper the GeForce 7600 GS is an excellent choice for those looking at getting into mainstream gaming at extremely affordable price-points. With the MSRP being $129-149 we should see these cards dipping below $100 in future months and that is when they will sell like hot cakes. In addition to the price point, users will find the GeForce 7600 GS to be an excellent match for Windows Media Center Edition system configurations with its passive cooling, and PureVideo MPEG-2 HD/SD and H.264 decode acceleration.
We heard NVIDIA say that this was the ultimate multimedia solution so many times we are still having dreams about it, but it might just be true. Using a HDCP-ready GeForce 7600 series graphics card, users can playback HDCP-protected content to HDCP-capable monitors. HDCP versions of GeForce 7600 GS and GT graphics boards should be available from various board vendors in the near future. The GeForce 7600 GS is Vista Ready, and are great Vista upgrade solutions for millions of existing PC's using substandard integrated graphics or old and slow discrete graphics.
