Extreme Performance &
Overclocking
Well since I have been going through al these testing and I felt
somehow that there is more to gain from these Crucial memory modules have gone through some extra
performance tweaking and some limited overclocking. We will go through each of
these individually and compare these with the default DDR500 benchmark
result.
Default 250MHz Memory Results
So first of all we need to provide you the initial default
configuration. Again the SPD has set the memory timings which resulted for a
250MHz HTT at a latency of 2.5-4-4-8 for the Crucial Ballistix DDR500. Now that we know that we can execute
a more combined benchmark on this configuration.

Via using the Express Info on RightMark Memory Analyzer suite we
could run a combined benchmark using the Quick Test option. This will run
several benchmark and provide a condense overview of the performance reached.
The focus will be of course all linked towards the memory interaction and
operation. So at default timings ad 250MHz HTT we get on average about 3142MB/s
as result. Not bad at all but maybe we can do better?

We couldn't just stick with the RightMark results alone so we also
fired up once again our Everest Ultimate Edition suite. So what score did
Everest nail down? Well it has been a top score of 6237MB/s. This ram already
performs outstanding.

Extreme 250MHz Memory Timing Results
But indeed as we are not yet happy with all that we wanted to see
if we could even get better results so we started tweaking the memory timings
and at 250MHz HTT the lowest timings we could reach on these Ballistix's is
2.5-3-3-7. This is actually lower then what Crucial is advertising. Anything below that is just a waste as
the memory can't keep up and will loose performance.

So what is the gain when we use these extreme memory timings? Well
the gain is very decent on average we see a boost of 220MB/s giving us a final
score of 3363MB/s. Could it get any better? Well not with these sticks, but I
haven't seen any other DDR500 kit that could put down this score...

And what about Everest, does that one also see a gain in
performance and confirm these awesome results. We can't disappoint you as indeed
we see an improvement of about 110MB/s and note down a final score of 6355MB/s.
I am sold by these Ballistix dual channel sticks!

You are still not impressed? Then I don't know what can impress
you... The Crucial Ballistix
are performing better then advertised so if you go out and buy these you won't
be disappointed, you actually get more then what you paid for. I just love this
Ballistix DDR500 kit and I would like to see if there would be any memory kit
out there that can put down the same performance levels!
