Evaluation & Performance

Since the Zalman 460W is happily running and powering our system, it is time to put this baby to some more serious work. To get a clear view on the performance of the Zalman power supply we are using Everest Ultimate Edition 2006 from Lavalys. We will be focusing our eye on the voltage fluctuation and stability during idle and full load operation. Let's take a look...

Zalman Noiseless 460W - Idle Operation

Zalman Noiseless 460W - Full Load Operation

When looking at the results monitored by Everest Ultimate Edition 2006 we get an indication of the voltages reported from the Zalman power supply. The outcome on the idle system shows that all voltages are at the required voltage level just as expected. By adding some load to the system, namely the CPU, video card and hard drives the power supply should be able to take this additional voltage/current request and still remain as stable as possible on the voltage output.

And what about the noise levels? Well I have to admit that Zalman truly makes a noiseless power supply. During idle or normal operation the 120mm fan is running at low speed and the noise levels are below 20dB. While upping the load the PSU will need be able to get rid of more heat and so the fan speed will increase depending and the temperature. Still at full load the Zalman PSU was hardly producing any extra noise. Well done Zalman!
