The Sweex USB 2.0 Mini HUB

Sweex itself as a brand is known all over the world. In almost any computer store you will find their products. Sweex in essence tries to build products that everyone could use from time to time and even more frequently. Most of these are very useful and extremely user friendly. Let's shed some light on the USB 2.0 Mini HUB itself.

The solid grey/red Mini HUB has four Hi-Speed USB certified ports, and it's LED's on top of the unit keeps you informed of the bus activities. When you pull out the integrated USB cable from the hub and connect to either USB or Hi-Speed USB port, you still have a net gain of three additional ports.

Running out of ports on a notebook could be frustrating, especially when you've an integrated USB device blocking the way of an adjacent USB port. Getting a hub would solve everything, but not any hubs are as lightweight and compact as the Sweex Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Mini HUB.

While the Mini HUB does not speed up your legacy USB devices, it is the hub you would need to increase the number of ports on a Hi-Speed USB laptop. Performance wise, the hub passed our tolerance test of flooding traffic from our USB audio and Hi-Speed USB storage devices.

Turning the Sweex USB 2.0 Mini HUB around we get a good view of the bottom of the unit. The bottom is covered with a red transparent plastic which reveals the small PCB that is used inside the Mini HUB to divide the single Hi-Speed USB port in 4 Hi-Speed USB ports. Next to that we also can see that it can be powered with an external power adapter (which is not included). This should be a DC power adapter of 5V and 2.1A. This will come in handy when connecting bigger devices to the Mini HUB that will require more power from the hub.
