HD-O-Matic MICRO II 3.5" Hard drive Cooler

In today’s world it's not to exotic to run a water cooled hard drive, however this piece of hardware is totally sleek, elegant and yes, exotic. The Innovatek HD-O-Matic is a micro size self contained HDD water block that perfectly fits on the bottom side of an HDD and acts as a huge HDD sink that cools the storage device considerably. The HD-O-Matic is machined from aircraft grade T6 aluminum stock with an anodized finish for protection and cosmetics and includes fittings and thermal sensor header for water temperature sensors. The MICRO II provides the best cooling for your HDD money can buy. Let's break it down...

Features

  • High-grade steel cover with laser engraving
  • Anodized Aluminum body
  • All needed screws and fittings included
  • Designed for optional temperature sensor

Specifications

  • Weight: ca. 680g (incl. fittings)
  • Dimensions: 100 x 140 w 20 mm (without fittings)
  • Material: Anodized Aluminum
  • Fittings: Screw-in 8x1 standard tubing (8mm ID)

As a special feature, the MICRO II can use an integrated water temperature probe (optional) that reads the water temperature at the drive reliably and accurately. The sensor uses a two-pin header and can be attached to suitable equipment like the DigiDoc, Fan-O-Matic or motherboard two-pin temp header if so equipped.

The (optional) sensor cable is 100cm long and can be moved within a large case easily, the probe itself tightly threads into the MICRO II's housing. When not installed the sensor opening is securely plugged with a hex bolt. The sensor can then be plugged into most panel controllers that offer temperature logic. For example Innovatek's Fan-O-Matic, which is a control panel that provides fan control and temperature, read outs of various sensors with so equipped devices.

Serial ATA hard drives are known to put out a significant amount of heat radiation. Needless to say a water cooled hard drive will reduce temperatures in both the hard drive and case ambient temps. Anytime you can cut down a thermal radiation source you cut down on over all case temperatures as well. This is a really nice feature for those who simply want it for bragging rights or for the sheer fact that you can turn your HDD into a full fledged hi performance water cooled storage device.

The MICRO II fits perfect on our HDD specimen and since we have the mounting hardware, I think its time we screw the MICRO II on the HDD and give a go at water cooling our HDD. I must say this is a first for me as I have never considered water cooling a hard drive until Innovatek designed this work of art. I think we should finish this up and get on with mounting it, don't you?
