The Cool-Matic NV45 Continued...

Stressing not to over-torque the retention screws, here we show a close up of the ideal height of our screws. These were installed by hand and then we used a small driver until we got the first sign of resistance. This will ensure you do not damage the PCB and or it's components. All surfaces will lay flatter after a few thermal cycles and the water block will actually loosen up and get play in it after a few good gaming session, this is when we recommended a re-torque, but only after a few thermal cycles.

Almost complete, we have the CPU backing plate and water block retention screws in place and ready to go. One thing I like about the Cool-Matic is the fact it’s so easy to install, you don’t necessarily need to under stand German manuals to complete the task. Otherwise it's simple, awesome looking, cools the memory, GPU and the voltage transformers all in one! Now beat that!

What's left now you ask? Well we will install the last two remaining machine threaded screws that covers the voltage transformers as show below. Make sure you use the plastic washers with these screws, if you don't, you will short out the card! Do not forget this detail and or continue the installation without them, if you lose one or didn't get one, get a replacement ASAP!

Almost finished, as you can see we are about done with out last two fasteners. Using the plastic washers and screws as mentioned this is about a done deal! What we will do now is get a feel for its retention by looking for any movement while inspecting the card. We don't anticipate this, but we don’t want any surprises, so we are going all out to make sure these cards are perfect.

Finished! Now we can get the over all idea of the Cool-Matic and the GeForce 6800 Ultra. No more fan noise, cooler running temperatures, single slot migration is possible with new single slot DVI brackets, which we are going to see if we can get our mitts on some. Let's get a look at this bad boy from the front side...
