It might be called Radeon Xpress but we are still unsure about the name of ATI's first Athlon 64/FX/Opteron chipset. We know it will come in two versions. The first codenamed RS480 is IGP (Integrated Graphic Processor) chipset while the second one is RX480.

We managed to get a nice picture of ATI reference RS480 board. It has an actively cooled north bridge, four memory slots, PCIe 16X, two PCIe 1X, two PCI slots and one unidentified slot.
We noticed four S-ATA connectors and good old IDE connectors on board followed by a floppy one.
At the back you get VGA out, S VIDEO, four USBs, FireWire and LAN card as well as AC 97 sound. The ATI board also uses a VIA chip, possibly for sound. Ironic isn't it? This chipset should be introduced in the next few weeks. |
