nForce 4 SLI paper launched yesterday
Written by Mavke

nVidia has not launched SLI nForce 4. That is, unless you consider one sheet of numbers is a launch in which case nVidia has launched it.

ImagenForce 4 SLI paper launched yesterday

None of the reviewers have got an nForce 4 SLI board in their labs, I guess some privileged wights have seen nVidia SLI setups. But try plugging a sheet of paper into your machine and it won't show great strides in graphics performance. Still, let's go easy on Graphzilla. nVidia has seen the light and was nice enough to give us the sheet too.

Those numbers are not that hot since KyleB from HardOPC has already written about them a few days ago, but here they are one more time.

nVidia said that it got these numbers on Asus production nForce 4 Ultra SLI board powered with and AMD 4000+. nVidia said that the drivers is used were optimised for Intel's Tumwater chipset. You might expect even higher numbers with new drivers and faster CPUs such as the flagship FX 55.

Two 6600GTs in SLI will be faster than one 6800 Ultra in Halo and 3DMark05 but not in Doom 3. Two 6800 Ultra cards will give you huge performance boost for hefty price of course. It's safe to say it will run 60 per cent faster than one card.
