Final Thoughts

The OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel Kit is a real screamer and with today's system requirements, it is ever increasing knowledge that in order to stay on the cutting edge of performance, extra ram capacity is a necessity. 2048MB is going to be a new standard to most gaming enthusiasts on the prowl for more performance and smoother game play. Anyone can seriously benefit from larger ram capacities thanks to OCZ Technology and other manufacturers who are stream-lining large capacity ram kits.

The scores we seen today are proof that large capacity modules are no longer the high latency, low performance modules of yester-year. We are at the day and age were 2048MB is going to be the standard and 1024MB will be considered entry level for its lack of capacity for today's applications and game titles. Do you're self a big favor, if you love the game titles we tested with and want the absolute best performance possible, go with a 2048MB Kit from OCZ!

On another note; call it a fluke or just a good combination of hardware, we were able to see an HTT of 260MHz at 1:1 with a multiplier of 11. Wow! Granted the system was very unstable and gave us BSOD's but I managed to find a sweet spot to the get the system stable enough to at least get us to a Windows Desktop. However we could only load CPU-Z for a screener, before the system vomited on this configuration.

Our TEC kit from Swiftech no doubt played a part in our over clocking head room, however the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x 1024MB Platinum Edition ram allowed us additional head room over our previous ram, that allowed our system to open up to the point we were able to. Running a 250MHz HTT fully stable under some of the Direct3D game titles we ran, proves OCZ Technology is working in the right direction.

With outstanding performance and stability, combined with excellent overclocking head room, this ram is without a doubt the fastest sticks of DDR stuffed in our system, period. With the holiday seasons coming up, I would definitely put this on my Christmas list of upgrades and so should you! This ram is the shizzle! OCZ rocks the house with this bad ass ram and for that we give it our award, for product excellence and performance in our nF4 SLI-DR platform.

Pros

  • Super aggressive timings for it's density
  • Excellent over-clocking head room
  • Stable at 250MHz HTT
  • Attractive in design and looks
  • Large 2GB capacity aids in performance on game titles
  • Excellent customer support & sales staff
  • Competitively priced with a solid warranty policy

Cons

  • N/A
