Game Play & Performance Kid tested and parent approved game performance! The OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition rocks under these game titles, we rigorously tested this ram using these game titles and our results where outstanding! No more bottlenecks, no more swap file warping and lag associated with swap file creation and usage with only 1024MB of ram. The 2GB kit allows these games to run smooth with flicker free video and made our experience a better one. These games ran stable all the way up to a 250MHz HTT and offered a considerable performance increase with an average increase of 6-8 FPS running these game titles at 250MHz.
Quake 4 runs fine with 1024MB systems but with 2048MB, it's that much better, Q4 rocks with intense fight scenes and hellish video sequence's making this epic title one to remember and the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition rocks this title like never before.
We all know Battlefield 2 is very dependent on system resources and with the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition stuffed into out system, this game title finally started running like it should. Last month we found this out with our last large density storage review and the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition rocks this title just the same.
When Battlefield 2 Special Forces was announced, this game was going to be had by me! There was no way in hell I was going pass this one up. So while this game just keeps getting better with this release, the game engine is still very dependent on extended ram and running this OCZ ram, the system just powers through Battlefield 2 Special Forces like a bull dozer! 2048MB really does make a serious difference with these two Battlefield 2 titles.
Serious Sam II was well not one for my favorite releases, but none-the-less, this title is fun and offers some serious excitement so I decided to load we up with both 1024MB & 2048MB configurations and did not really notice any difference, so this game operates just fine on systems configured with 1024MB.
For Call of Duty 2 and all the rest of the games, our system was set to run on a totally default configuration for out of the box performance testing. I personally played each titled for the last two weeks to get the low down on the benefits on using 2048MB.
Our conclusions is on some titles, yes 2048MB is neccessary for the ultimate in smooth game performance, however on most titles, 1024MB or 2048MB does not make that much of a difference, so if you are experiencing jerky game play caused by bad swap hits on titles like Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2 Special Forces, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, Metal of Honor, then yeah 2048MB is the shizzle. *Note* Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, is sensitive to over-clocking and this title ran better at a default HTT of 200MHz. While we did test all games under default settings we did over-clock to 250MHz HTT to get an idea of in game stability at these speeds, while some games will run excellent over-clocked, other will not, so we wanted to get an idea of game performance at both levels.
