Introduction

OCZ Technology is without a doubt, one of the most recognized names in the industry, no lengthy introduction will be needed today. Instead we will be focusing on OCZ's latest milestone the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x 1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel Kit. The DDR standard is still alive and well thanks to chip manufacturers who depend upon these standards with bridge chipsets like the nForce4 AMD platform.

This DDR platform is highly suited for our test bed, the DFI nForce4 SLI-DR AMD motherboard. The SLI-DR is a product that is capable of some of the fastest benchmarks on the planet. What better way to stuff the worlds fastest ram, in the worlds fastest SLI mother board. With today's computers, 1024MB is just about insufficient with today's memory hungry applications and games such as Battlefield 2 and Quake 4.

Needless to say the standards at which today's computer system's need memory, are soon going to be considered entry level, while the migration to 2048MB systems will be slow but steady, within a years time OEM's will be using 2048MB on a regular basis. When we think how memory needs have migrated over the years we can see a timeline of progression and we are at that point in time when 1024MB just is not what it used to be. Recently we have started seeing high density 2GB dual channel kits hit the market and what was a once luxury is now becoming a necessity.

Associated to the myth of high capacity 2048MB dual channel kits, is the higher densities create latencies undesirable to the over-clocking enthusiast. While this was a thing of the past, this is no longer the case. Today's technology allows OCZ to lay that myth to rest and set a new standard in high performance high capacity modules. The OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel modules have the word elegant written all over it. These modules are some of the nicest specimens we have seen. The heat spreaders offer a mirror like chrome finish an is adorned with the OCZ three dimensional logo. The CL 3-3-2-8 timings are one of the most aggressive in the industry, supercharging this ram into new realms and performance needed for today's super fast gaming computers.

The OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel DDR Enhanced Bandwidth module over on the upper right, we can see the how the heat speaders wrap around the entire PCB. The top of the module is completely covered. Not only that but if your rig is set up with UV and lamps then this ram will give off some rather cool effects with its mirror finish, we will see this later on in the review. This ram is totally bitch'n looking, what more can be said about such handsome modules. These OCZ sticks are sweet looking in deed, just like that Mia Song over there are OCZ! I love the look and weight of the spreaders, while light in weight they do have a solid dense feel to them. Feels rugged and ready to rock!

This ram is fantastic for the latest gaming titles, swap hits will be the thing of the past, creating a whole new gaming experience like never before. This memory is able to handle voltages of up to 3 volts with out voiding the warranty.

The Enhanced Latencies will give excellent stability for super fast performance for game titles like Battlefield 2, Quake 4, America's Army and many more - right on down to everyday application that requires lightning fast high capacity memory for today's multi-task environments.
