The GigaPod III SP110-NEB is part of a growing family of external storage solutions that take advantage of USB 2.0's fast 480Mbps bandwidth. And for anyone who has a hard disk hanging around and regularly needs to move large chunks of data around from PC to PC, or wants extra disk space but doesn't have any space left or needs some means of backing up their entire system, this is a relatively inexpensive way of doing it.

The GigaPod III SP110-NEB arrived in a sturdy retail box. The box clearly displays which Spire model is enclosed and gives a list of features. Not much box hype on this one, just the basics as it is. A good package to protect the enclosed items. Yeah, you might say a flashy box attracts the attention of potential buyers...but what about the content?

By taking a further look at the Spire package we noticed that the GigaPod III actually comes in three different version. Our package is the basic one, with the USB 2.0 connection. The other 2 available bundles come as IEEE 1394a FireWire & USB 2.0 connection and Serial ATA & IEEE 1394b FireWire connection. On the back we find for each of these their specific features.
