Test Bed & Rig Specifications

The test system we are using at MVKTech for this review is based upon a Intel platform. While it is not the latest top performer it can certainly keep up with current gaming needs. Let's go ahead and take a look at the specifications and hardware we are going to use for this portion of the review.

  • Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) 3.0GHz CPU
  • ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard
  • 1024MB OCZ PC-3700 Gold Dual Channel Memory
  • 200GB Maxtor HD IDE (UDMA133)
  • PNY Verto 6800 GT (NV40) AGP 256MB
  • Ultra Connect-X 500W Modular Power Supply
  • Cooler Master Cooldrive 6
  • Cooler Master ATC-200C Case

The installation into this test rig was convenient and fast, by removing the standard case fan supplied with the Cooler Master case and replacing it with the Silent Eagle 2000. As we have a Cooldrive 6, we just attached the Silent Eagle 2000 on a 3-pin power connection. This also gave us the opportunity to regulate the rotating speed of the Sharkoon fan.

An outside view from the Silent Eagle 2000 installed on the Cooler Master case. Where it used to be a black fan it is now replaced by the nice looking Sharkoon white fan. I am quite pleased with the look and feel of this Silent Eagle fan. What I find strange though is that Sharkoon has not put their logo on the back sticker of the fan. As you can it is just a blank white sticker. A pitty as that would give Sharkoon some extra visibility.

Let's have a look inside the case, focussing again on the Sharkoon fan. The Silent Eagle fits nicely on our test rig and here Sharkoon has taken the advantage of putting a grey sticker with their logo on the white fan. We get a clear view on the fan and blades with the golf ball curving.

And lastly some extra images to get a clear view on the Silent Eagle 2000 installed in our test system. Once I had installed it I was really surprised about how silent it runs compared with the stock fan that Cooler Master provided. And from my own impression, the airflow generated by the Eagle 2000 is much more then before with the stock case fan.
