As we told you before - aren't you listening? - nForce 4 SLI comes later but the date for the nForce 4 and nForce 4 Ultra chips has oddly changed again - this time to October 21st, claim sources.
nForce 4 to launch on 21st October
nVidia is still keeping to its decision to launch nForce 4 SLI chipsets later. It doesn't want to get draw too much attention to the SLI chipset and it knows that people will focus most of their goldfish like attention span on that product only, internal sources allege. Even though lots of folk want to read about SLI many will still go into a shop and buy either nForce 4 or nForce 4 Ultra. That's how this world works. The world of goldfish+dog.
We have already learned that there may well be a shortage of NV45, GeForce 6800 Ultra PCIe cards and that nVidia cannot provide enough samples, not even for its favoured lapdogs journalists working for the press.
We saw some documents that imply that NV45 will be much more available in the channel, in the etail and retail in November. That's the plan. There is a Plan B.
nVidia claims that its 65 series driver is ready and that it doesn't have any software problems with the SLI marchitecture. But in this trade, seeing is believing.
nForce 4 SLI production boards will come a bit later than nForce 4 Ultra ones but Ultra boards are expected in November. God willing. |
