It's very hard to make a good graphic driver. It's very hard to make any kind of device driver especially one as complex as a graphics driver. This stuff is the most complicated peaces of system software and you need it to make your chip run the games. XGI knows this and it also knows that drivers is its biggest weakness. That's why they are working hard to make it better.
New XGI Volari driver arrives
They just released new Reactor driver and it comes under 1.06.57 number. It will work on all Volari cards currently available. It claims that it improved support for numerous of new games and that it added some new cool features. It improved or added PowerManager, DesktoPlus,
Rotech, Virtual Screen, optimization of Open GL 1.5, and 1080i/720p HDTV support.
Its PowerManager will provide you with real time GPU temperature data and monitoring while Rotech will help you rotate your display picture, Virtual screen will let users use small windows to see enlarged portions of the screen.
Here is the list of games that the company claims it managed to improve visually: Doom III, True Crime, Massive Assault, Besieger, TrackMania, Colin mcrae rally 04, Joint Operations: Typhoon rising, TOCA: Race driver2, ALIAS, and
Far Cry.
We are not sure whether the driver will also add some speed to those games or just make them look better. |
