The HIS X800GT IceQ II Turbo

The HIS X800 GT IceQ II Turbo is a beautiful card with excellent performance and qualifies as a dual slot card. The IceQ II cooling system is endowed with nice graphics and color schemes which include a transparent blue impeller and clear ducted shroud. The retail package comes with an expansion slot ventilator that fits onto the card and acts as a rear chassis vent for the video processing unit.

HIS's intelligent Cooling technology automatically adjusts IceQ II fan speed base on X800's loading and temperature to achieve best performance. With this technology come two major improvements over a standard cooling, namely it will decrease the heat by around 11°C over the original cooling fan and will generate less then 20dB of noise. The outstanding IceQ II cooling performance extends the card life while increasing over clocking head room and performance.

The HIS IceQ II cooling comes with a bonus features as well. Utilizing with what they call UV Sensitive components. The HIS IceQ II is a UV sensitive cooling system that gives the video card that extra cool look, especially in the dark using cold cathode UV tubes. We will take a look at this feature later on in the review and we think you will like what you will see.

The full blown HIS X800 GT IceQ II Turbo looks impressive. The actual PCB with all the components is almost completely hidden away behind the dual slot cooler peeking out of the bottom we see the PCI Express connection. On top of the cooler HIS displays ice-blue graphics making sure that we all know that this is a HIS product supporting IceQ II cooling with UV sensitive ducting, supporting iTurbo.

Let's take a closer look at the cooling solution that HIS has decided to use on their Radeon X800 GT Turbo card. The solution: IceQ II series. The IceQ II brings some advantages to the HIS X800 GT. The cooler is extremely quiet and the copper heat sink below help reducing the heat much faster. Not to mention the UV sensitive components that make up the IceQ II cooling system.

The IceQ II cooling technology or also known as Direct Heat Exhaust System facilitates excellent cooling characteristics by drawing air from inside the case and exhausts warm air outwards. This prevents the fan from recycling warm air to cool the VPU, which increases cooling performance and lowers the air temperature inside the case significantly.

By turning the card around we can see that the cooling system is actually bigger then the card itself. The fan is considered a "Ducted-Fan" design which uses an impeller to push air through the copper heat sink towards the outlet of the card. We can also see that the back plate of the cooler which is the retention mechanism and rank sink. If you look closely you can see the new thermal pads HIS is using on the ram modules.
