Wicked Lasers Eye Wear

Wicked Lasers knows the importance of protecting your eyes and offers these CE-certified laser glasses. The lenses provide a high level of visual transmission while absorbing and attenuating light at the laser wavelength of 532 nm. The lightweight polycarbonate filters meet or exceed US and international laser safety and optical standards, including laser standards ANSI Z136.1-.3, EN207/EN208, and Z87.1 impact standards.

The laser glasses are impact resistant and offer light weight protection from greenies of all power ratings manufactured by Wicked Lasers. The handsome and rugged designs are highly recommended when using any greenie for personal use or in a technical setting such as alignment, focusing and setting up commercial lasers. Personal eye-protection is specially recommended for use with the Classic, Advanced, Extreme and Beyond Extreme Series Laser Modules. Polycarbonate lens are a cost effective alternative to glass, while maintaining excellent optical focus and filtering, offering eye protection at a reduced cost as appose to glass filters.

The lenses attenuattes the wavelength of standard KTP YAG transmissions filtered specifically for 532 nanometers. The frames offer reflection protection by incorporating the side panels that guard the eyes from reflected light. The glasses are the perfect personal eye-protection and are essential when using high powered lasers such as the Extreme and Beyond Extreme Series laser pens.

Here we see a demonstration of the optical density and or protection factor that the Wicked Lasers personal eye-protection glasses can deliver. This was performed under night time conditions with the light sources in our testing facility turned off with only an adjacent room giving us very low visible light. The camera was placed behind the lens of the glasses and two shots where taken and these are the results. The attenuation, filter type and optical density is specifically choosen by Wicked Lasers for superior performance when using greenies.

Safety & Operation

The operational characteristics in today's advanced laser technology such as DPSS semiconductors, allows the manufacturing of ultra compact, highly efficient and very powerful laser modules. Capable of operating on as little as 3 volts while pumping out over 125 mW of laser power and beyond, these portable lasers require extreme care to be exercised at all times. Laser's are capable of very destructive damage and can cause serious injuries to eyes and organic material if not properly handle. An 80 mW green laser such as our sample can cause catastrophic damage to the eye of any living creature and should never be pointed at a life form.

*Caution* Beam scatter, reflection and splitting can happen if pointed at reflective surfaces causing beam ricochet that can cause severe cellular damage before the human eye can react and blink from reflection, stray or direct beam exposure. Never point any laser at life forms, motor vehicles, airplanes or any manned machinery. While lasers can be considered novelties, educational, scientific and industrial devices, pointing them at motor vehicles and airplanes is a serious federal felony in the United States and other parts of the world. In some instance's pointing them at police officers and people in general can land you in jail. Having been said appropriate handling and eye wear should be worn at all times.

The sheer power output in closed or confined area's can cause enough beam scatter to damage eyes. Even pointing at a wall 5 feet away can send enough stray scatter to cause harmful effects. This is why we highly recommend using laser safety glasses in close quarters or small rooms..
