HexView Editor

As something extra NiBiTor also provides an HexView Editor, which will let you do some manual Hex updates on the BIOS. Of course this is something that only those who know what they are doing should be using. For all others it is just nice to see how a BIOS looks like in bits and bytes.

In the HexView window you see the actual content of the loaded BIOS file. On the left side you see each byte of the file displayed as a hexdecimal number (00-FF). On the right side you see the ASCII representation.

The HexView is to give users transparency about the changes being made, and offers advanced users more comfort in editing. All changes done to the BIOS can be seen live in the HexView, when opened.

When you select a value to edit in the main NiBiTor window, the HexView will automatically show you the position of the corresponding value in the BIOS file, and mark it in green color. When a value is changed it will be marked as red.

Advanced users can directly use the HexView to change data in the BIOS. The BIOS file is saved with the data displayed in the HexView.

Read BIOS Function

The Read BIOS functions allows you to read the BIOS from the graphics card from within Windows and view it in NiBiTor directly or to save it to a file. Also here we have made sure it can be used on systems with more then one NVIDIA based video card by making sure you can select the Device you want to read out... The following options are available from the Read BIOS function:

  • Select Device: Here you select a graphics Device found on your PC (only NVIDIA ones are listed), to be used with the Advanced Functions of Read BIOS, AutoSelect TimingSet and Test Timings (remember with SLI and PCI there could be more than one NVIDIA card). The Read BIOS and Test Timings functions are grayed out until a Device is selected.
  • Read into NiBiTor: This will read the BIOS from the card and load it straight into NiBiTor and will allow you to save it from there. Or you can immediatly make changes. Of course we advice you to always save the Original BIOS before making any changes.
  • Read into a File: This will prompt the user with a popup window to save the BIOS file to a certain location and file name. This is the prefered way to save a copy of your Original BIOS!

These extra functions on getting the actual Original BIOS from your graphics card will help a lot of users to make sure they have save a copy before any flashing attempts are undertaken.
