PurePower TWV500 Series - ATX 12V 2.0 Version

 

Introduction

Thermaltake ups the anty once again with a kick ass new power supply that provides the latest ATX power standards, incorporated with a new modular cable design with integrated LED display controller. To compliment the power supply unit, Thermaltake throws in a speed controllable fan for extra cooling power, plenty of connectors and cable sets. Continuing a legacy from the PurePower series Thermaltake offers the latests in active PFC power supply units, the PurePower ATX 12V 2.0 TWV 500W.

The PurePower ATX 12V 2.0 TWV 500W, features new technologies such as special skew' aluminum heat-sink. Honeycomb air ventilation, embedded socket and modular cable management, new low noise LED 12cm fan to provide the best in thermal performance. taking these great features and adding the Total Watts Viewer or TWV, gives the user real time power consumption. The TWV is a integrated fan controller and digital power meter in a convenient 5.25" drive bay controller design, giving instant access to fan control, while it visually represent the power usage. 

 

Features

Modularized Cable Management design eliminates clutter and improves airflow inside the case. Compliant with ATX 12V 2.0 version. Dual PCI-Express Connectors, 4 SATA connectors, and nine 4-pin power connectors. Active PFC, increased energy efficiency, reduced current load on AC delivery systems. Improved output voltage stability. 5.25" Drive Bay Total Watts Meter Module to read power consumption w/ 2 channel fan speed controllers. Protection circuitry eliminates over voltage, short-circuit, over-current, overload and over temperatures. Safety and EMI ratings include: CB,CE,FCC,UL,CUL,TUV certifications. Let's go ahead and rip open the box like a Christmas present and see what's inside. 

What's In The Box?

Opening the box we can see the goods include a 500 watt power supply unit, speed controllable fan. A 5.25" Total Watts Viewer box, a cable box and a box containing a power cable and mounting screws, the module cables, connectors and last but not least, a installation guide and manual. 

Below we see the accessories package that include everything needed to run the PSU in most systems including SLI rigs and supporting 24-pin power connectors for the latest PCI-Express platforms from both Intel and AMD. We also get a glimpse of the 12 cm fan and TWV drive bay module. On top of what you can find with every power supply package, Thermaltake also provides a fan controller which can control the fan speed on the power supply and shows the watts the computer is using.

Mounting screws and a power cable round off the accessories to provide one of the latest generation of SLI capable power supply unit's available. The TWV module can run control the RPM's of the PSU fan and the included 12 cm fan for total control over airflow characteristics.
