The Razer Diamondback
Out of the box the first thing to take notice is the dark smoke transparent housing. This allows you to see the circuitry and onboard LED's that’s behind the Diamondback. The left and right buttons are oversized to facilitate ease of use, even under extreme conditions, the buttons, coated with an anti-slip finish allows fingers a better grip in the heat of the battle. The 24-position scroll wheel feels softer than what I am used to but that does not take away from the design, functionality or feel. The wheel's clicking positions are more pronounced than others and again this is a good thing.

The RZD-1600 comes with a gold plated USB connector to ensure best possible connection. Speaking of USB port this high performance mouse uses more power than the average mouse, thus for best performance you will want to make sure you are not polling any other USB device on the same port. The extra-wide communication and power consumption means this mouse needs a dedicated USB port for best operations and performance.
An excellent feature I noticed with the click pads are the fact they operate at the same height and distance no matter where you click the pad. This is do to the competition design which allows an almost free floating pad that responds to the switch stroke distance in the same fashion no matter where you click the tactile feel button. This means you get the same degree of clicking pressure no matter how you use the mouse.
No more slamming buttons with aggressive taps and slam pounding the device because you just took a head shot just as your are trying to take a shot. With other mouse designs the switch stroke travel distance to activate the switch changes depending on where you click it, not so with the Diamondback. You will get same response and click stroke travel no matter where you click the button. This is what makes sure your input is executed every time and gives you that true, aim-bot capability.
On the bottom of the diamondback the transparent dark smoked case reveals the printed circuit board, the three foot pads in a delta configuration, they are thicker and raised higher than what I am used to seeing on a input device. What comes to mind is longevity with the Teflon pads as thick as they are, this device will slide over many surfaces for many months if not years to come, just as easy and smooth as it did right out of the box.

Razer Software:
Razer includes a comprehensive user interface and functionality to give total control over the 7 button controls of the Diamondback. The Razer Customizer, assign's buttons and wheels to accomodate any situation or game title with simple adjustments through the vey user friendly software.
Set features like orientation for left or right handed users, "On-the-Fly" sensitivity adjustments, scroll wheel speed with universal scrolling. This is an excellent interface using a very nice design software package to complement the Diamondback.
Now that we got the Razer software installed we are going to test this mouse on fUnc indUstries - fUnc sUface 1030 Competition Mousing Surface and therefore we are doing a combo review on both products. So without further ado, let's put one of the best mice, with one of the best gaming surfaces together and see what happens...
