NVIDIA's next generation graphics core remains a well protected secret. We still managed to get some information about it, despite that. We confirmed that the G70 chip is the real thing and we learned that NVIDIA has one more chip down the road codenamed the G80. We expect it to be based on 90 nanometre and have more pipes than the NV40 core. It is still quite early to have all the facts though. We don't think that it will be dual graphics core stuff but you never know, you kow. We suspect this card should be ready sometimes in September time even some people suggested April as a possibility. But we believe that April is just a poisson d'Avril, or mayhaps a red herring. - The Inquirer
Upcoming new NVIDIA graphics core G80 emerges
NVIDIA and its partners are quite confident that they have the right thing but ATI has strong R520 horse for race. Although, when we look at the G70 it could keep up quite well with the R520 in terms of raw performance. In that light the G80 core should be more advanced and it a next generation chip to come and beat the hell out of the current graphics chip available from both ATI and NVIDIA. How it will be designed and what the specifications will be is yet unknown and NVIDIA is keeping it quite a secret. In the end all depends on how the G80 will stack up against the upcoming ATI core. Let's see what the future brings.
