ipKonfig has also put an article online an 3DMark05. Futuremark has released its latest version into the web, and a rather demanding version it is, too. A quick glance at the specs tells us that we're looking at expanded of benchmarking, being pushed further. Today's computers need something hard-core to produce to push the performance envelope for consumers; after all—they are the purchasers, aren't they?
FutureMark 3DMark05 Glance
The final assessment will have to wait, in our opinion, as 3DMark05 gave us a sense of deception that will take some time to fade. But as we've
also mentioned, any pre-fabbed benchmarking tool should be taking with a grain
of salt and only used as a quick'n'dirty comparison. At this point we're quite
impressed with the new features, and hope to see how our scores and others start
comparing across the web.
The Demo mode of 3DMark05 also gives some interesting segments of the three games used to benchmark, showing more of each one with high-quality sound.
The quality of all three games in the demo mode is quite nice, but are still a bit sluggish even on the test system we're running.
Our final thoughts of this benchmarking tool, as we've just mentioned, will
have to wait out the first few months of wide use and examination of the honesty
of Futuremark's application. We're not going to knock this software
yet, just let it hang around a bit before we give our judgement. 3DMark05
definitely left its 'Mark' on many hardware sites, and we've all had a hard
time relying on any pre-fabbed benchmarking tools on the internet since then. As
of right now we can say that Futuremark Corporation is busy behind the design
doors, always working on something new, and that's what we like to see
from such companies. |
