Introduction:

Corsair sets its sails once again by introducing the worlds first hi-performance memory modules with programmable LED displays, the XMS XPERT series. XPERT modules consist of two components - A memory module and a display module. The memory module plugs into any 184-pin PC3200 compatible DDR DIMM socket and the display module plugs into the top of the memory module. XPERT modules can be used together with standard memory modules to facilitate user flexibility and multiple configurations.

The XPERT was conceived in the fall of 2003 and the XPERT project was officially born on January 2004, which comes to life just over a year later. With XPERT features such as revised cast aluminum heat spreaders (synonymous with Corsair XMS Pro Series), Samsung TCCD hi-performance chip sets and the new display module sporting real time data displays, you will get crucial measurements of voltages, temperatures, frequencies and customized messages a crossed the display module.

With real time monitoring of voltage, temperature and frequency parameters, comes the ability to get on the fly information as to the current status of your ram modules. Not only that but you can scroll your own custom massages. The display modules are capable of displaying up to three custom messages, each of which can be up to twenty-three characters in length. These messages can be configured as one long scrolling message of up to 69 characters.

Mean while the ram does more than just show pretty display parameters. Underneath all this glamour, the modules are packing some of the fastest DDR modules in the tier one market, the legendary Samsung TCCD chip modules.

Out of the box we are looking at two display modules and two memory modules. One part consists of the memory itself and the other part is the display module. When you connect them together you got the XPERT module. Here are closer shots of the CMXP512-3200XL's.

With this photo you can see both sides of the XPERT memory. You get a clear picture of the memory modules and display modules. With all this said, just plug in the display module and your ready to receive real time measurements. Not only that, but the displays are hot swappable, as the memory module can function normally with or without the display.

Technical Information:

The modules also can be programmed to display user-defined text. These text messages can be static or scrolling, which can be connected into one long message. The duration of these message displays and their scroll rate can be controlled through software. The text orientation can even be controlled, to make the display easy to read in nearly all system configurations.
