ATI Radeon 9700 All-In-Wonder Review
Written by Mavke

What's new from OSNN.net? Well they have reviewed the ATI Radeon 9700 All-In-Wonder. With the introduction of next-generation products from both ATI and nVidia in the market place there has been a gradual drop in prices of hardware from the previous generation. With this in mind, we will be taking a look at the relative performance of the original R300 core in various recent games to give the prospective consumer an idea of what to expect if they purchase this product.

The ATI Radeon 9700 PRO is an aging card that has been on the market for almost 2 years. Despite its age the card shows that it still has enough left in it to power some of the most demanding games out there. The X700/X800 series of products from ATI also utilize elements of the original R300 core giving an idea of the longevity of the product and the solid design of the original.

Thief 3, Doom 3 and Far Cry are some of the most demanding games on the market today and while the Radeon 9700 PRO core was not able to play these games at the highest settings, it handled them well enough for the games to be enjoyable.

With a listed market price of around $175 on some websites, people on a limited budget can't go wrong in considering this card as an option in their upgrade plans. Not everyone can afford to shell out $400-$600 for the top performing cards present today and the new 6600 and X700 products are not yet on the market in agp format. If you are upgrading from anything below a GeForce 4 Ti level product the Radeon 9700 PRO will suit your needs adequately for the interim. The Radeon 9700 PRO's bigger brothers, the Radeon 9800 PRO and the Radeon 9800 XT are also good solutions and both continue to drop in price.
