This card reader is feature rich in that it has something that not many other card readers have, 12v/5v output for external storage along with the many other features, it is easy to use because there are no drivers, and it comes with a very clear and effective instruction guide, it is very fast, and is not too expensive, though most card readers can be had for $10+ cheaper. This is a stellar product.

Sunbeamtech has given us an opportunity to see the evolution in action with the Core-Contact Freezer heatsink. This new design removes the plate that separates the heat pipes from the processor so now the heat pipes have direct contact with the processor. Is this a more effective way to cool these new multi-core processors? We will be testing this to find out.

Working with the Thermaltake V9 has been an experience in getting used to a smaller case again. The size is just right for a budget minded person. It will allow for a Full ATX motherboard with lots of room for a taller heatsink. Then factor in the ability to use a SLI or Crossfire setup and knowing you are covered in the cooling area.

With the Holiday season coming up, and everyone is going to be upgrading there PC hardware to get the most out of there new PC games. I decided to remind everyone that with all those new beastly Quad-Core Processors and Dual Video Card setups you better check the PSU ratings.

"In part one of this roundup, I looked at two lower powered models from Ultra and FSP designed to supplement one's main PSU in providing power for the newer and more watt hungry video cards. In part two, both of those units are in for some "tough" competition in the form of two big bad Thermaltakes - the Toughpower Power Express 450W and 650W units."

Nothing like watching a PSU roast on an open testing bed.

Keeping the PC gamer informed about new games for this season is just part of the Ninja life for us. Today I'm just going to spotlight one game and that is the COD World at War. Have not played it, but hoping to see it soon to give a better idea about this great looking title.

Call of Duty: World at War

"Built on the CoD4 engine, Treyarch has had the opportunity to focus on the gameplay. CoD 4 was a journey into the modern world. For WaW, Treyarch went back to World War II but instead of focusing on the European Theater, the dev team expanded that to play the game - through scenarios - on two fronts. Players will be immersed in the Pacific Theater in the war against the Japanese Imperial Army, and will be part of the Russian push toward Berlin."

I know many of us geeks out there love to play with photos and what not with Photoshop everyday. For the most part a new release of Photoshop is not very hardware news worthy, but this time around CS4 is using some sweet new technology. This is the first time that Adobe is using a video card to do the work load for Photoshop.

"New edition of one of the best, if not the best, application for processing raster graphics attended for photographers but also for graphic and web designers, is finally tested on InsideHW. One of most important technical novelties is that Photoshop CS4 will be delivered only as 64-bit version. Adobe made this decision after preliminary tests that showed that performances of 64-bit applications are better for 8% to 12% comparing to 32-bit version. True power and advantages of 64-bit version are hidden in fact that it can use large amounts of memory..."

This is good stuff here. Very Cool!

This is for all of you guys that like to tinker with something out of the normal. The guys at Phoronix are comparing a couple different versions of Linux to give the alternative OS guys something to look at.

"Over the past few weeks we have been providing several in-depth articles looking at the performance of Ubuntu Linux. We had begun by providing Ubuntu 7.04 to 8.10 benchmarks and had found the performance of this popular Linux distribution to become slower with time and that article was followed up with Mac OS X 10.5 vs. Ubuntu 8.10 benchmarks and other articles looking at the state of Ubuntu's performance. In this article, we are now comparing the 64-bit performance of Ubuntu 8.10 against the latest test releases of OpenSolaris 2008.11 and FreeBSD 7.1."

The shopping season is here and so is many great games for the PC this year. Let's take a look at a couple more games to interest your buying power. The first game is a classic that never seems to grow old, and neither does the hotties that play as here either. It is Tomb Raider Underground.  With the graphics getting better it just makes Lara get hotter. Next is the game that I think is just down right awesome, and had to put it up one more time for you guys to check out. Fallout 3.

Tomb Raider Underworld Review @ GamngHeaven

"Lara Croft is undoubtedly one of the most well known game icons across the globe and Eidos have released the latest installment Underworld to capitalise on the success of Legend ... which was a great title. The question we aim to answer today, is this another archaeologist journey worth paying for?"

Fallout 3 PC Review @ TestFreaks

"Fallout3 is set in the far future after the world has basically ended due to the usual things, greed, power, and nuclear war, eventually I'm sure it will end this way, so it might be a peek into our own futures... Seriously though Fallout3 is a magnificent game in visuals, actual gameplay and storyline, it's a bloody, gory romp through the post-apocalyptic wastelands that will keep you coming back for more."

Oh yeah, let the gaming begin.

Well not really new but the server migration went without a hitch.  There was a little downtime on saturday due to a server mis-configuration but I won't count that since the DNS changes were still being populated around the world.

The new hardware should keep this site up and running for at least another year but if we keep growing at a steady pace who knows what will happen.

Enjoy!
