News from around the world NVIDIA GTX 280 & GTX 260 Technology Report

"In any case, the new NVIDIA GT200 has 240 stream processors (or processing cores), which generate about 933 gigaFLOPs of processing power. To achieve that requires a lot of transistors - an astounding total of 1.4 billion transistors. This, plus the fact that it is still built on the 65 nm process technology, inevitably meant the GT200 would be a really large chip (approximately 5x the size of an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor)."

News from around the world Point of View GeForce GTX 280 Assassins Creed Edition

"NVIDIA's new GTX 280 graphics cards have just been released. Point of View's GeForce GTX 280 is an implementation of the NVIDIA reference design. The GTX 280 offers amazing performance improvements and can even beat the GeForce 9800 GX2. But performance comes at a cost, at $649 you need a fat wallet to be able to afford this card."

News from around the world The ATI Radeon HD 4870 Is Prepped For Launch!

"While we were at Computex 2008, we were told by at least 3 ATI partners that the Radeon HD 4870 was not ready for launch anytime soon. We were also told that ATI had decided to delay the launch of their Radeon HD 4850 graphics card from June 18 to June 25, 2008.

At first, we figured that ATI pushed back the Radeon HD 4850's launch date to avoid the launch of the NVIDIA GTX 280 and GTX 260 graphics. Perhaps that was originally the reason but we now understand that the delay has also allowed them to..."

News from around the world Coolermaster Silent Pro M500, M600 and M700 Power supply Review

"Today the NDA lift for these three different PSU types. The M series PSU have the following main features, one 12V rail, flat modular cables and silence of course.
If this PSU can perform well I think we might see the feature of power supplies in todays review. The flat cables for example make the case look nicer and increases airflow while the single 12V rail should work both for casual users and heavy overclockers."

News from around the world QNAP TS-409 Pro Turbostation

"QNAP already added nearly every thinkable feature to their NAS firmwares. To make a new series innovation had to be found elsewhere. QNAP decided to double the capacity in their TS-409 Pro and add features to utilize this space. The four disks that the TS-409 Pro houses can therefore be put in any RAID level including 6. Besides adding RAID 5 and 6 support QNAP shows they take their RAID arrays seriously by adding support for online expansion and RAID migration. Combined with the already proven ease of use and list of software features the TS-409 Pro Turbostation promises to be a solid product."

News from around the world Western Digital 1 TB My Book Home Edition External Hard Drive Review

"With our important files bloating into gigabytes, traditional back-up media like CDs and DVDs are no longer practical. The future of back-up solutions lie with external hard disk drives that not only have large storage capacities but are also much easier to use and provide far better performance.
Now that hard drives are available in capacities of 1 TB, companies like Western Digital are using them to create external storage solutions of up to 2 terabytes in capacity.
Today, we are going to take a look at one of the new external hard drives - the 1 TB Western Digital My Book Home Edition external hard drive, and see what the fuss is all about."
