Re:EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT SC edition and some tweaking help? - 2008/08/27 21:32
Thanks Mavke, for helping me see my way of wording. Actually, what I should have made clear is if you brick any manufacturer card beyond your ability to recover it, is physical damage considered and void any and all warranty. If they know that is what happened, I specifically can say EVGA and BFG, and for sure BFG do not allow any tampering with the hardware whatsoever, flashing, cooling, nothing, etc. You want a water cooled one, overclocked, buy one as it is not allowed by them and the warranty is voided.
EVGA on the other hand state physical damage as being, slipped screwdriver, knocking something off, voltage modification and burnout, overclocking and fried, shorting out across solder points, breaking a little peice of shroud, so physical damage. They do warranty for after market cooler though, you have to reinstall original for RMA. You botch a BIOS flash and the warranty will cover it, if they by chance get some insane clocks shown on the BIOS, if they check as I understand they rarely do.
I didn't get to ask but if I was EVGA, I would tell you you are hooped. I told them I had my GeForce 7900 GTX SuperClocked on water, no problem, how I got my GeForce 7950 GX2 in Quad SLI in the first place. And are water cooled. With XFX I didn't compare their double lifetime warranty. For me and you if you buy my card, cool not sure about ability to modify or tweak, maybe have to give em a call? I now have a couple of their sweeties, namely the GeForce GTX 280 XXX edition series. I hope this helped.
