So you are talking about the hardware modification and yes that you do with what you want, and many sites have details about that but that is not really our style as by doing so you loose the warranty. And yes it is traceable even when you undo it. The voltage tweaks via the BIOS are not as many manufacturers set their cards alreadt at the 1.35V to overclock better than with the standard 1.25V.
And no you can't just go introducing new VID's with other voltage numbers as you want as the voltage circuitry won't know these and won't neither be able to unstand these. The GeForce 7950 GT only knows the two VID's levels which can give 1.25V or 1.35V and that is it. So whatever you change to try and make 1.40V or 1.45V won't make any difference at all. But yeah enjoy, but make sure you got good cooling!
