Better to test your card to see if it run at SSC speeds then edit your original BIOS and reflash with that as unless memory chips are the same, timings etc you may have problems, and amount recognised, may be an issue. And if you haven't already done so, upload your original BIOS of your GeForce 9600 GT 1GB version so someone can do a HEX view and advise you on best course of action...
