EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB a bit of overclocking help? - 2008/06/23 08:03
Hello, let me first say I really like this site. I have done some overclocking in the past but its been awhile. I recently just got an EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS with 320MB. Its stock speeds are 513MHz core, 1188MHz shader and 1584MHz memory says RivaTuner. I was playing with RivaTuner and was able to overclock it a lot. I was kind of getting scared lol. I was able to get it to 660MHz core, 1528MHz shader and 2000MHz memory. I did run the 3D medusa program from NVIDIA and I didn't notice anything wrong.
I did notice a small boost in preformance but not much and the temp only got up to 63°C. I am running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor on an ASUS nForce 570 Ultra mainboard with Windows Vista 64-bit. I would like to get the extra boost but I've heard software overclocking isn't the best. My question is. Should I modify my BIOS to overclock and what speeds do you all recommended. Thanks?
