GeForce 9800 GTX, overclocking though needing more speed? - 2008/05/04 17:12
So I finally pulled the Trigger on a new GPU. I grabbed the EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX for 300 Canadian. I know I could have got a G92 based GeForce 8800 GTS and just overclocked it to get GTX seeds and saved a bit of cash, but I'll use my step-up and grab the new GeForce 9900 GTX if it drops inside 90 day. So my Question is this, as it is, my GTX can overclock to 810/2300MHz with 2000MHz shaders without artifacts and the temps stays under 65°C during Load. I know that is a good overclock out the Box.
I think there is some headroom left to overclock and I am wondering if there have been any successful GeForce 9800 GTX BIOS flashes to raise the voltages? I really want to try this BIOS flash and see what this puppy can really do with some added voltages. I would consider doing the hardwire to raise the voltages but my hands are too shacky to do the soldering without screwing something up. Anybody here live on Vancouver Island B.C. Canada that wants to come do a soldering job for me? Help me out guys, I need more speed...
