Re:GeForce 7900 GTX, and getting bad image and Vista issues? - 2008/03/05 03:15 Okay going with the specifications, my card by default runs on 650/1600MHz and a 50MHz delta and it gives artifact at default stock frequencies. I downclocked on my way, like 600/1500Mhz and keeping the delta and that was the bug, I don't know if in the another series can set the frequencies that you want but in my case to down it but percentage wise. So the same percentage in all the frequencies... If I overclock the down clocked card in differents ways per frequency the issue appear in Vista and Windows XP.

Example to downclock 650MHz of core to 600MHz the percentage of down clock is approx 8%, then 600MHz of core is at 92% of 100%. You must apply the same percentage to all memory frequencies and delta. The idea I looked in a notice that the GeForce 9600 GT get percentually overclocked when you overclock the frequency of the PCI Express bus. My final downclock is 625/1530MHz and 48MHz shader, which is about 96%. Now no artifacts with ATITool in 8 hours of scan.

I hope this info works in all video cards and helps another gamer to eliminate the artifacts on his damaged video card by the factory default overclock like some XFX GeForce 8800 GT. My friend has the problem, and I want help him but he scream and scare the BIOS flashing. I am happy I only lost 3 frames rates in total. Thanks for this great site!
