Good thinking mate, well I don't know if this will help, but I am actually using a GeForce 8800 Ultra from Point of View currently and I find it better than the GeForce 8800 GT. Okay that is not exactly what you had in mind, but is is close. What you need to know is that the GeForce 8800 GTX is actually already finished at NVIDIA and the only GTX version you will find it clean up of stock cards. Now, my question is why would you only keep it till end of the year? In that case I would just go for the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB edition, which will allow much greater overclocking.
