I have the same issue on my Radeon HD 2600 PRO card. My old GeForce 6600 GT via a DVI to HDMI adaptor works fine. But the Radeon HD 2600 PRO comes up with no signal, even at boot. I can only conclude that the signal strength of its DVI and HDMI outputs is so weak that the projector doesn't recognise it.
