Well indeed, with the AMD processors a lot depends on the stepping...cause AMD has quite some steppings out of the same processor and that also gives better or worse overclocking. But with an AMD which you can overclock from 2.2GHz to 2.9GHz, I would be happy. For Intel I wouldn't depending on which CPU you got. I am happy now with my Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz) running at 2.8GHz.
