This is the first high-end card to support DirectX 10. Which means almost all new upcoming products based on it will have that support. Also ATI will come next year with their own card that is capable of supporting DirectX 10. So it is just a matter of waiting and more will come. But for now NVIDIA has the edge. 
I wouldn't even try it cause as you bought it new like that your PC, they will have removed it because most likely not the required logic is available on the mainboard to support the PCI Express bus. So I would just opt for one of the newer mainboard with full PCI Express x16 support...
