6800GT running at 154 degrees C !!! - 2004/12/13 17:48
Hey
my Pixelview Prolink 6800GT has been running fine for about 1 week now all of a sudden im getting constant pauses in games about 1 second apart, sound and video pause for split second. Im getting decent framrates just this pausing is annoying but its running stable otherwise. I believe my core temp sensor is faulty as it reports the card running at 154 degrees celcius while the ambient sensor is more like 30-40. It also jumps about randomly as high at 250 or back to a more "noraml" temp around the mid 60's (nvidia drivers control pannel) the core temp is read as 0 if using the latest rivatuner hardware monitor.
Now the card is brand new and i have not OC'd it yet.
Has anyone else experienced this fauly sensor on the 6800GT series or any other gefore card or Pixelview for that matter ? Without taking the heatsink off it all looks fine and is making contact with the chips on the PCB. I dont believe the card it runnign at these temps as the heatsink is coolish to touch and the card would be causing crashes and most likley fried already.
Im goign to try a few different BIOS's and hope that will fix it otherwise the card has to be shipped off for warrantee
any help or suggestions apppreciated.
