NVIDIA brought back SLI with their GeForce 6600, 6800, and now seventh generation GeForce video cards this past year when it was least expected. Previously one has to go all the way back to 3dfx's Voodoo 2 for the last SLI video card solution but it has since seen a strong comeback. With all this extra muscle to flex with two video cards also comes the opportunity for increased image quality.
While ATI announced SLI anti-aliasing with their CrossFire SLI solution, that still has yet to be available to the public while NVIDIA adds another card generation that can run on it. NVIDIA's latest drivers open up SLI anti-aliasing and they also allow their video cards to run in SLI without the SLI link card and our curiosity sparked us to test systems without the SLI connector enabled.
