Mmmm 64-bit or 32-bit? - 2005/08/01 02:46 Well my eyes are bleeding! My 16 year old son been around for a week on his hols before college, and hes drove me bonkers with Battlefield 2.

However it gave some quality time together and some serious testing of drivers across Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit.

Feedback (Gainward 6800 GS Ultra on air/stock cooling)...
Well our conclusion was for 32-bit, we where torn between 77.76s and the 80.40s. The later gave us the best benchmark score of 6358 (460/1270MHz) in 3DMark05 and I thought the colours rocked in the games. However we got the odd crash in Battlefield 2 for an unknown reason. Settings for the game where 3D stock 430/1200MHz. The 77.76s however seem to give a smoother playable game and no crashes. Also at the same settings. Benched at the same 460/1270MHz gave us 6290.

Then we went and installed 64-bit (my third time) and I am now gonna keep this op system running. With very few drivers to pick/play/install from we ended up with NGO 76.71s which gave us the best bench of 6282. However we could not utilise ExperTool as with the 32-bit op system, so we used RivaTuner/NVIDIA Control Panel and the best we got from the card was 435/1245MHz. So we now need Gainward's help to release a 64-bit version. The game ran great! No issues. So where does that leave me, Vista next I think...

By the way, had loads of problems with 77.77s, keep away!
