Flash Utility for Normal/SLI Systems... - 2005/02/03 22:35 Check this out, an util we been using for a month or so... Flashes and saves SLI BIOSes in SLI or Single Mode.

This version has a menu...
>> 1. Single Backup PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS
>> 2. Dual Backup PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS
>> 3. Single Flash PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS
>> 4. Dual Flash PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS
>> 5. Exit

And the Backup BIOS is saved under "Backup" directory on the floppy... So those who have a SLI config can now also dump their 2 BIOS's and supply em to us! So please make sure you add em to this thread or that you mail em to us...

Update...
MVKTech Flash V1.2

Changes in this Version
- Incorporated the "forced" flash procedure

Enjoy...

Re:Flash Utility for Normal/SLI Systems... - 2005/02/11 21:26 Mavke, is there a tool to backup the BIOS when you do not have a floppy drive? I have noticed that more and more pcs are now being supplied without floppy drives. At work nearly all PCs are now without one, its the way its going I suppose, with all the pen/flash tools about to transfer files...

Re:Flash Utility for Normal/SLI Systems... - 2005/02/12 09:48 Well sort of... But then you need to make a bootable CDRom and then you can't write to it, so you also need to make sure your HD is formatted in FAT16/32 (no NTFS) to be able to backup the BIOS.

Currently there no Tool that works to dump the BIOS in Windows. And why is that? Well we have checked it out a bit and when dumping the BIOS from within Windows the BIOS misses around 2-3kb which is not accessible via the common way Windows can dump it... So we are still looking at some other procedure and coding on how to get access the BIOS directly via Windows to dump it...

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 00:45 For some reason it keeps saying it can't read my second 6600GT's EEPROM? I have an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo with 1005-003 BIOS.

Anyone else having these problems on this board?

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 13:25 And which brand of 6600GT's do you have? And to help you maybe we can do it with the nvFlash commands itself if you are up for a try?

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 16:22 I have PNY 6600GT's, with BIOS version 5.43.02.16.50. As long as I can test the second card before I flash it, like by saving the BIOS than I don't have a problem trying. Question tho, I used that NiBiTor BIOS Editor and selected the temperature trick for 6600GT's, will that enable temp monitoring on my cards?

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 16:34 Okay. Then we will do it manually by first saving the BIOS of each card... So what should be done? I think you made the above bootable diskette? Is that correct if so, then we just had to edit the "autoexec.bat" file.

Edit the "autoexec.bat" by putting a rem command before the MENU.BAT. So the file should have this...

Original "autoexec.bat"
MENU.BAT

Changed "autexec.bat"
rem MENU.BAT

Then you restart with that floppy disk. You PC should just boot in DOS. And then you should able to type in commands at the "a:" prompt...

Backup the BIOS of 1st card
"nvflash -i0 -b backup0.rom"

Backup the BIOS of 2nd card
"nvflash -i1 -b backup1.rom"

Does that work, if not tell us what isn't and at what point and what error you get...

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 16:40 Yes by ticking that you will enable the temp monitoring via the BIOS. Are you also able to provie us your BIOS? You can attach it here or you can mail it to me...

Re:SLI Flash... - 2005/02/26 17:45 Backup of card 1 worked, second card failed again, heres what nvFlash reported...

Reading adapter image...
Reading EEPROM faild
Error: Could not enable the PROM pins
