Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/30 21:22 I'm not new to flashing my graphic card, but I wanted to know what you guys think. I'v been following some threads and I can see that a Leadtek 6800LE can be flashed to an Asus 6800GT. Is this correct?

I have a Leadtek 6800LE with 16x1 6vp overclocked to 339/860MHz and thought that I might be able to flash it to a GT. After benchmarking, I can see that my temp is around 60°C.

Can I go for the GT BIOS? is it safe to push it that far? I know that it's taking a chance, but I don't know very much about the Leadtek 6800LE.

Please let me know what you think.
Thanks...

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 01:44 If you mean the Asus V9999GE card, the GT card with 128MB RAM, then I think it is worth a try. But if you're going to flash with an authentic GT BIOS, with 256MB RAM and GT clocks, make sure you edit the BIOS to lower clock rates such as 300/700MHz, then you flash.

But you can go ahead and flash to the 128MB GT BIOS. However if you wish to keep those pipelines unlocked, the BIOS may not be able to unlock them. Hope this helps.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 02:47 Go ahead and do it, but backup your stock BIOS first.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 03:52 OK, I did the flash and I get amazing results. First I flashed my Leadtek A400 (6800LE) with the Asus GT 128MB.

I have it clocked to 372/900MHz with the Asus BIOS.
3DMark03 : 11.089
Aquamark3 : 58.208

Leadtek BIOS clock: 339/860MHz
3DMark03 : 9.181
Aqualmark3 : 36.680

The temp stays around 52 - 60°C under use. Is this too much? Am I pressing it too hard? The Leadtek doesn't look like the standard, as the heatsink is different. I'll attach a picture of it.

Should I back off? I have all pipes and shaders open with RivaTuner.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 04:01 Great, sounds like it's all working fine. Your temps should be fine. My 6800 Ultra peaks at 69°C, so low 60s isn't bad at all. Try leaving it at stock 6800GT 128MB speeds for awhile 350/700MHz. Run benchmarks and play your games to make sure it is stable. The 372/900MHz is an outstanding overclock from stock 300/700MHz!

Oh, BTW, what type of RAM does the Leadtek 6800NU and 6800LE use, from your overclock, it sounds like it's 2.5ns or 2.2ns.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 04:03 Ok, here comes a newbie question. How can I see the difference between the 2 speed? I know I can just look on the card, but how do I tell them apart?

Re:Leadtek 6800le flashing - 2005/01/31 05:41 I guess it's a 2.5ns as I can't get them pass 900MHz... But I'm very happy for the results.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 15:45 Can you also provide your Original BIOS? Of your Leadtek 6800LE? I want to take a look at it. You can attach it to this thread or mail it to me...
mavke@mvktech.net

On the memory... Well 2.5ns - 400MHz so it would mean 800MHz. So they always can do a bit better but 100MHz more is to much.

Just so you know...
>> 2.5ns - 400MHz (800MHz)
>> 2.2ns - 455MHz (910MHz)
>> 2.0ns - 500MHz (1000MHz)
>> 1.6ns - 625MHz (1250MHz)
...

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 16:44 I will send you the bios when I get home from work.

About the ram, I have down clock the ram to 875 just to be on the safe side. Do you reccomend that I turn it down? Normal speed is 700 so 900 seems extreme.

Re:Leadtek 6800LE flashing - 2005/01/31 18:50 Here is the Leadtek BIOS.
What are your view about the ram? Is 900MHz to much?
