Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 04:39 I bought a 9800 Pro off Ebay that is fitted with a VGA Silencer. When I boot up the computer loads up and the fan on the VGA Silencer works, but my monitor is blank. The power LED flashes on the monitor. If I unplug the monitor from the card it says "No Signal". I've got a 450W power supply, and its plugged in AGP slot. Is this the sign of a dead card or do you know how I can get it to work?

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 05:00 Well I think you got a bad card there... Cause if it doesn't even want to show something at bootup on the screen then it is not promising. So if I where you I would return the card as being non functional at arrival!

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 05:01 Clear CMOS, reconfigure BIOS, re-install card... If still blank video find another system to test card in and if same results then send the card back as DOA.

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 05:04 Good idea the above... You never know that it is just a small conflict with the mainboard BIOS. So try the above first to make sure. And if else indeed it should be returned as DOA.

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 05:37 I can clear CMOS but how do I reconfigure the BIOS?

Looks complicated.

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 06:04 We are not talking about flashing your BIOS! A clear CMOS is just to, clear all the settings of the mainboard BIOS. So you just need to do that and when done then you turn on the PC again...

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/28 06:30 Why don't you just buy a new one or why didn't you buy one from the markets? Confusing but yes I would try a clear CMOS and the other stuff but if that don't work try a BIOS flash on the card.

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/29 00:31 Well, I find it logic to buy stuff on Ebay. I already bought 2 graphic cards that way. I always go for the "sealed" and "new" packages... But if it is a second hand it should still work and with Ebay you can file a claim when the good arrive broken.

Re:Problem with 9800 Pro, no picture... - 2005/01/29 12:16 Just a few quick question. Did ya plug in the molex to the card? If yes did you try the DVI adapter. You should have got an adapter for a VGA with your card , tho on Ebay maybe not. Pull out your card and reset it. What was your card before this one?
