GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 08:02Hello guys i hope u can help me.
I have a little Problem with my GTX 295. My GTX 295 don't work in SLI mode so I searched why. I tried many things (like SLI Patch, older Driver Version, checked SLI Bridge) but nothing fixed the Problem. So I looked for the BIOS and tada NVflash shows only the BR04 <05B8h> Switch and one GeForce GTX 295.
So my Question is, can u "disable" one BIOS or Delete? DO u think one GPU is broken? It's strange because i get a Video Signal on my two Screens (both via DVI) so the SLI Bridge HAVE to work right? (cause no SLI Bridge no Signal on the DVI Ports).

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 08:58Euh, yes you can have such thing happening when someone screwed up some flashing. So my first question would be, is this a new card or you gotten it from someone? If you bought is from someone, I will really urge you to complain and ask your money back as that means the person has been playing with the card and you might get into more issues than what you are experiencing now. And the SLI stuff might work, but it doesn't control the screen output of the two DVI outputs. Also which card is that exactly, like brand?

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 15:53I got this card from my Friend. He has had two GTX 295, one from Zotac (not working) the other i don't know (which i use). But i think it's a normal GeForce GTX 295 non specific (no extra BIOS or Settings).
My friend gave me them because he thinks they are broken, so i checked them. Cleaned everything and used new thermal grease and new thermal conductivity strip. The one from Zotac is broken or i think the one PCB with the Connetcor for the Cooler is broken. The one i have works "fine". I can play all my Games and the Tempratures are ok too.

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 21:32Okay, thanks for the extra information. The best thing is that you check the one BIOS on the card for the version and that you download from our website the BIOS from any brand with the same version and you try to flash the second PCB without BIOS with the second BIOS. Just one thing, when you use nvFlash to list the devices did it list 3 devices?

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 21:57No it only shows the two:
I use NVFlash from Windows, not with a Bootable DOS (Problam?).
btw. merry christmas

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 22:03Mmm, either there is something not well connected and that is why it only shows two being the SLI bridge chipset and one GeForce GTX 295 while it should show two of those. Can you try in Dos, meaning not from within Windows but with a bootable Dos media and nvFlash? Just to be sure cause if it doesn't list that second one you will never be able to enjoy the true SLI power of this graphics card.

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/23 22:55so i started NVflash in DOS and used the command: nvflash --list. Same print as in Windows only two values <0> and <1>.
So one GPU is broken and i can't fix it? -.-

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/24 15:57That is a question we can't answer if it can be fixed or not because it could be that the connection between both PCB no longer functioning, perhaps the firmware chip holds no BIOS anymore or it could indeed be that the second PCB is just bad. You best check if the connection between both is correctly attached, if so you can try the firmware tweezer on the PCB that doesn't work. But how you will determine which PCB is actually not working that won't be that easy. Maybe it can't be fixed but maybe it could, depends on what we mentioned above.

Re:GTX 295 one BIOS missing - 2011/12/24 16:18Is it right, the BIOS on the PCB with the cooler connector is that BIOS which controlles the cooler? So the cooler is working right, i can also change him with the MSI Afterburner tool. I have a second GTX 295 here, one from Zotac. I could try to build the PCB with the PCI-E (from the Zotac) and the sec. PCB from my the GTX295, together. Maybe it works, or will it work anyway?
