Alienware M18x GTX 580M SLI Undervolted! - 2011/10/03 11:10The topic speaks for itself guys I was able to run a little undervolted vbios for the GPU's with the max overclock possible. The reason i decided to try this out is cause for some reason I xperience throttling on my cards even with extra 50Mhz on the core: 670/1500 was my limit before... And now, please, have a look)
Anything above 725/1700 resulted in system hang! You may try this vbios for your own and share the results as well. But for me, personally, this vbios increased the max posiible OC with no throttle + lower temps. During the 1hr Crysis 2 DX11 run the temps never went higher then 68C with 700/1600 OC and 66C on stock
So here's the ultra low voltage testing for the GTX 580M in SLI. Actually Nvidia uses 0.80v volts for normal 2D use, but i tried it for 3D and even a bit of an overclock. The results are simply astonisging, IMHO! Now we can clearly see how well the GF114 chip was polished to its absolute perfection. That means that if we can get a nibitor support we can get the 2D to a much lower voltage level and probably won't notice such high spikes of temps during idle to 60C (at least i experience it)
And of course a real-world scenario, temps after 1hr of Crysis 2 ALL MAXED OUT on stock clocks: 60C for GPU1 and 65C for GPU2 (2nd GPU fan did spin much slower that the others)
