Need help with flashing Sapphire Radeon 4850 BIOS - 2011/09/25 12:33 Hello everyone! I would really appreciate, if someone could help me on this.
I have an Ati Radeon 4850 card, with a corrupt bios. The card itself won't boot, but when I use my integrated graphics, it shows up in the device manager. Upon checking with aida64, weird symbols show up in the 'bios version' and the 'model type' field. Like this:

The biggest problem is, that when I try to flash the bios with ati tool, it just freezes. Also freezes when I try to get the adapter number. Atiwinflash just freezes and restarts the computer. Any suggestions on how could I flash this card correctly?

Thanks

Re:Need help with flashing Sapphire Radeon 4850 BIOS - 2011/09/28 08:05 Mmm, it would be a good idea to start first of all by providing how the Radeon HD 4850 gotten into that state cause you will have done something to end up like this with a corrupt BIOS. The way to find a solution is first of all knowing what did happen before, and how the card gotten in this error state. Next, I see you tried mostly Windows based software for flashing, which I am not so keen on and as such did you try ATIFlash when using a bootable Dos media?

Re:Need help with flashing Sapphire Radeon 4850 BIOS - 2011/09/28 22:09 The card was already in this state, when I Got it. I just want to save it. Tried with Winatiflash, but that just freezes. Atiflash dos: 3.30 does not find adapter, 3.86 just freezes.

Re:Need help with flashing Sapphire Radeon 4850 BIOS - 2011/10/03 15:23 Not all cards can be saved and that is what quite a few persons tend to forget. Some persons simply play too much and change things they shouldn't which lead to corrupting too much. Since neither software can recognize it for flashing, the only thing that might work is when you try the tweezer method. This means finding on the card the firmware chip and to ground it normally which will bring it in its virgin state that should allow it top reflash.

Re:Need help with flashing Sapphire Radeon 4850 BIOS - 2011/10/07 23:52 Thanks for the help. I can't really find the firmware chip on the card, as there are many other chips on it. What does it look like? Btw my card is a Sapphire Radeon 4850 1gb.
Itt looks like this:
