Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/14 04:50 Can somebody help raise on my GeForce GTX 580M load voltage? The stock value shows 0.80V at idle and around 0.87V under load, maybe unlock to 0.94V or more? Attached you can find the original BIOS backup for reference.

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/14 17:01 Thanks for sharing this original BIOS for a new laptop GeForce graphics device which we didn't get yet and we will see what is feasible in terms of voltage tweaking. Since it is new, we will check if it is somehow similar to the other BIOS's but knowing NVIDIA they now more often change things to make sure we always need to do some extra checks and development. Would anyone perhaps also have the GeForce GTX 570M and also the GeForce GTX 560M original BIOS images?

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/14 19:27 Okay, having done a quick check it seems there are actually four voltage levels being 0.80V, 0.85V, 0.87V and 0.92V. The card runs at 0.80V in 2D mode and at 0.87V at full 3D power mode, but we can also set a slightly higher voltage. So my question, do you want us to provide you a modified BIOS with this 0.92V set for the 3D operating mode?

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/15 01:47 Sent you the GeForce GTX 560M version BIOS through email. I just hope it's not corrupted, I haven't got the card myself, only got my hands on the original BIOS. Haven't seen a GeForce GTX 570M so far.

Yes, that's just what I want! By the way the GeForce GTX 560M and the GeForce GTX 570M also have different PCB model, looking at MSI, Clevo and Dell for which I don't know what will happen if you flash different OEM version BIOS.

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/15 07:44 As requested, we manually did the voltage increase for the 3D performance mode and set it to 0.92V, which should allow to overclock this GeForce GTX 580M higher. If you can try it out and let us know the outcome? And we are enhancing the code within NiBiTor to support this card in a next version. Could you also tell us which brand you laptop is?
Unknown GeForce GTX 580M 640MHz Standard Version
- Core : 620MHz (Shaders : 1240MHz)

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/15 13:03 If I don't remember wrong he has the same as me but probably a different branding. Sager is Clevo Malibal is Clevo Devil is Clevo, meaning they are all the same just rebranded. I can't believe that you are upgraded again its just two or three months since you upgraded to a GeForce GTX 485M. I'm going to wait for Kepler as I am hoping for a change in speed equal to what the GeForce GTX 485M did to my GeForce GTX 480M. Cause you know one GeForce 485M is only 10% slower than two older GeForce GTX 480M's and I hope for an even a bigger speed boost.

Euh, my question was simply to get those original BIOS's so that we could add the support for all at once in a next upcoming version of NiBiTor, but we can't do that without the actual original BIOS image as it requires some update of the code per graphics device.

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/16 02:23 Thank you, and will look out for those BIOS's. Oh, by the way my next upgrade will be the Clevo P270wm which actually is a Sandy Bridge-E laptop.

Re:Someone who can tweak a GeForce GTX 580M BIOS voltage!? - 2011/07/18 12:41 Just wondering, after you flashed the tweaked BIOS what was the outcome? Did you get it to overclock higher and what did you reach as highest stable clock speeds? It would be nice to know what that extra 0.05V does mean in terms of overclocking.
