Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/07/10 17:34 Check out Throttlestop, maybe it allows you to adjust the multiplier. It works for my Intel Core i7 920XM, even though there's no multiplier option in the BIOS. But I don't know whether it will work on your desktop CPU, just give it a try. If it works you can of course only change the Turbo multipliers, you will see them going up as soon as there's enough load. Also check whether you can adjust the thermal design current otherwise it won't be of much use I guess.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/07/11 22:17 Hi, I have tried ThrottleStop and it works fine with the Turbo boost and thermal design power and/or current. I have also tried SetFSB since it is posible to up the core and uncore in BIOS and I also have tried Extreme Tuning Utility and it works but what I want is to get the base clock multiplier up since that should be posible on the Core i7 980X, so that I don't need to play with the Turbo boost and can just bump it up from 25x giving 3.30GHz to 34x which would give 4.50GHz if the cooling holds up of course. Other wise I will only go to 4.00GHz and in that case I still have room to play with the base clock that are normally set at 133MHz. By the way I'm in the middle of a talk with Uncleweb maker of ThrottleStop.

Yeah, it should simply work but it seems that Sager has done something to cripple this through the BIOS while on my desktop computer I can just play around with the multiplier as I like and bump the processor speed as I like by just increasing or decreasing the multiplier. And actually I am running my Core i7 980X currently mildly overclocked as didn't get the time to go for the full blown overclocking.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/07/14 13:52 I'm starting to think that I need to give Sager a peace of my mind or to start with to ask if its them or Clevo that have put in the block since all Sager are originaly Clevo but rebranded.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/07/14 14:10 My 2 cents would be to ask Sager why you can't overclock the Core i7 980X while this processor comes with unlocked multiplier and that you seek for some more performance, which is simply natural when the processor comes unlocked as a feature offered by Intel. This is feature they clearly detail to support the selling of this processor and to give some hardcore tweakers and gamers a way to gain more through overclocking.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/07/14 15:10 That's what I'm going to do if it is BIOS related it shouldn't be so hard for them to fix but if it's hardware related like with the early Intel X58 mainboards they didn't either give you a chanse to to bump the Bclk multiple.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/09/07 00:30 Hi mate, sorry for not posting in a so long while I haven't done any benches or similar but when someone attempts to put a normal GF110 graphics chipset on a ex GeForce GTX 480m slate then I will report, since I as well have a GeForce GTX 480M that need to be sold or modified.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2012/03/09 19:35 Hey, can you please help me as I have forgotten how to change the BIOS through NiBiTor. Can you pleases do it for me? I want to set the core to 650MHz and memory to 3200MHz. I have already bumped to 1.03V, but that was done by you as well. Thanks.
