GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/14 16:48 My dual GeForce GTX 485M just arrived today, so after lapping the cooling plates I will start overclocking and benching these cards and would be fun if others would do the same. That way we can start comparing our results and findings.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/17 13:02 That seems to e a very nice increase from 26k to 33k in 3DMark Vantage, so what did you do exactly? Just overclocking the cards on both the core and memory? Or you also did some voltage tweaking, to even get higher clock speeds? Good stuf and thanks for sharing.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/17 14:05 From 26k to 33k is impressive, but it seems you have PhysX turned on, make a run with PhysX off.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/18 00:01 Cool. Does the vbios allow the voltage to be raised even more? Would be great for benching
Impressive cards! What's your CPU?

Hope to see a run with PhysX turned off

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/20 01:32 The processor is an Intel Core i7 980X and I have done some with PhysS turned off. I am going to load those up tomorrow. The BIOS only allows the voltage to be set by NiBiTor and at this moment the max of 1.03V. I'm geting around 28k and up a bit with no PhysX but have not maxed it yet. I have stability problems with some of the overclocks in the system.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/21 09:51 Thanks for the update and sharing your results, and you actually got a damn serious laptop powered with a Core i7 980X processor which is actually what I got in my desktop computer. Nice scores you are getting, and if you need some help with tweaking you know you can just ask.

Re:GeForce GTX 485M benchmark tweaking and just general fun? - 2011/06/21 12:35 The GeForce GTX 485M's aren't the problem, its the CPU overclock thats a bit iffy because it seems like Clevo have built in a block either in the BIOS or the hardware, so I can't move the clock multiplier that are normaly unlocked on these extreme CPU versions. Now I'm playing with the clock multiplier and as you know a lot of other factors get thrown in. I can get the overclock at 3.90GHz to run a full day of benching even Prime95 but next day it almost won't run at 3.80GHz.

And I have good system memory, being HyperX 1600MHz but I have seen people getting better overclock with two sticks of this memory than with three stick of 4GB. So this is the reason I haven't done more benches, this one is the latest.
